EATRIS-ERIC and the European Translational Medicine Ecosystem
Nektarios (Nek) Liaskos scientific background has gradually evolved from wet-lab research into translational research, digital transformation and data strategy.
He completed his PhD at the UCL School of Pharmacy, working on preclinical toxicology, biomarker research, and NMR-based metabolomics to study drug-induced liver injury, before joining the German Center for Neurodegenerative Diseases (DZNE), contributing to translational methodology, KPIs and FAIR data in neurodegeneration.
Alongside academia, Nek has supported start-ups and SMEs developing AI-enabled tools and digital biomarkers, and serves as Associate Editor for the Translational Process section of the Journal of Translational Medicine.
Today, he is part of the EATRIS Coordination and Support Office and serves as their Data Strategy Manager. He works at the intersection of translational research, data strategy and European research infrastructures, supporting efforts to consolidate the translational digital transformation landscape and strengthen the infrastructure’s digital positioning across the biomedical research ecosystem.
