From Biobanking to Impact: The BBMRI.cz Experience
Roman Hrstka completed all his academic degrees at Masaryk University in Brno, Czech Republic. Since 2002, he has been a researcher at the Masaryk Memorial Cancer Institute, specializing in molecular oncology with a focus on gynecological malignancies, metastasis development, and drug screening. He brings extensive expertise in managing research projects, having served as the principal investigator for eight and co-investigator for six successful national or international projects.
In addition to his research, Dr. Hrstka plays a key role in the BBMRI.cz research infrastructure, which is as a full member of the BBMRI-ERIC, a major pan-European consortium for biobanking that is internationally recognized as part of the European research infrastructure (ESFRI) Landmarks.
Dr. Hrstka is also active in academia, lecturing at both Palacký University in Olomouc and Masaryk University in Brno. His scholarly contributions, as listed in Web of Science, include 130 peer-reviewed publications, with over 3,000 citations and an h-index of 34, underscoring his substantial impact in the field.
